YYC welcomes 50 new Canadians at Citizenship Ceremony

On Canada’s birthday, YYC welcomed 50 new members to our Canadian family. The new Canadians recited their oaths and were then presented with a certificate, making it official.

A special moment in the ceremony was when David Tyler, a member of our very own White Hat volunteer crew, received his Canadian Citizenship. Congratulations David!

The ceremony included guests such as the Calgary International Airport Pipe Band; Adrian Montes, a White Hat volunteer who sang the national anthem; Irene Pfeiffer, Presiding judge and Order of Canada recipient; Irfan Sabir, MLA and Minister of Community and Social Services; Vern Overdevest, CBSA Honour Guard; Catherine Tyo, Citizenship Officer; and Michael Hayward, Vice President, Marketing & Guest Experience, Calgary Airport Authority.

"What an honour to be here on such a special day to welcome 50 people to officially become Canadians," says Michael. "I believe our airport is a perfect place for our new Canadians to receive their citizenship as we really are the gateway for new people entering our country for the first time."

This was the Calgary International Airport’s third year hosting Canadian Citizenship Ceremonies.
