Airway of Heroes fundraiser lands at YYC

The Support Our Troops art easel fundraising program, "The Airway of Heroes", has landed at YYC to help raise funds for the Canadian Armed Forces. This is part of YYC's Community Investment program to help support the community in which we live, and the guests who walk through our doors on a daily basis. Not to mention that many of our White Hat volunteers are veterans themselves.

Art easels featuring a variety of popular Canadian art will be displayed throughout the airport for guests and Team YYC to bid on - with all donations going to Support Our Troops. We're piloting this program at YYC with 18 pieces for 18 million passengers to see if it's an effective fundraiser. The art will be rotated around the airport and will be replaced as the pieces are sold.

We have four million square feet of space and one of the ways we can donate to our community is by providing valuable viewing space in our high dwell areas. An added bonus is artwork across the airport for our guest's viewing pleasure.

Since its launch in 2017 at the Ottawa airport, this initiative has gone live in over a dozen regional and international airports across Canada, and has helped make a difference in the lives of Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their respective families. In 2019, $169,430 was raised through the Support Our Troops Art Easel Program.

You can help YYC raise money for Support Our Troops by bidding on the art around the terminal, sharing the cause with guests and spreading the word on social media by using the hashtag #ThisLittleEasel. Instructions on how to bid are on each easel.

Did you know?

Speaking of the importance of supporting our troops, did you know that YYC guests and staff donate the most money to November's poppy campaign led by the Royal Canadian Legion to raise funds in support of Veterans and their families?
