Pride message from Bob Sartor

President and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority

Pride Week is Aug. 23 to Sept. 2 and YYC will mark the occasion with several Team YYC and guest-focused activities.

Operating an airport is about more than fulfilling our mandate. We care just as much about being a safe and supportive place for Team YYC, and for the 18 million diverse people who come through our airport each year. Similarly, when our people are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work, we collectively get stronger. When people who travel through our airport feel safe and welcomed, we collectively become better.

As both an international airport, and integral part of the Calgary community, the Authority's North Star guides us to reflect and celebrate many of the important cultural events and festivities around the city, and Calgary Pride is one of them.

Leading up to Pride Week (Aug. 23 to Sept. 2), the Authority will mark the occasion with several Team YYC and guest-focused activities:

  • starting this week, you can read personal stories posted on Team YYC
  • you're invited to attend a LGBT 101 lunch 'n' learn on Aug. 29 lead by Calgary's OUT Reels Diversity Program;
  • our Insta-worthy YYC and CANADA letters will be lit up in rainbow colours; and
  • a few more exciting initiatives are also underway from the Pride Week committee.

We're planning to learn from each other through personal storytelling, to learn and grow as an organization, and to have some fun along the way!

Please watch for more information and events coming up on Team YYC.
