Nighttime Airport Trail lane closures: updates

Lane closures on Airport trail will take place nightly from Nov. 26 to Dec. 5 in order to prepare for the interchanges project.

With the Airport Trail interchanges project moving forward, keeping traffic flowing comes with minor growing pains: nighttime lane closures. Beginning Nov. 26, Telus will start relocating their infrastructure out of the interchanges project footprint.

When: Nov. 26 to Dec.5, nightly

Where:

  • Nightly from midnight to 5 a.m., the exit ramp from eastbound Airport Trail to Barlow Trail South will close. All traffic will be redirected to make right turns at the traffic lights.
  • Nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., one to two lanes on Airport Trail eastbound will be closed just west of Barlow Trail.
  • There may also be a temporary single lane closure between 10 p.m. and midnight on Nov. 28 on westbound Airport Trail between Barlow Trail and 19th St.

As you may have noticed on your way into work, the digital wayfinding boards on Airport Trail are already flashing to give drivers notice of the work.

The speed limit will be reduced to 50 kilometres per hour between Nov. 26 and Dec. 3. Motorists are advised to leave a few extra minutes of drive time, and slow for steel plates as well as workers on the road.
