Happy Pride YYC! Find out how you can be an ally

Pride creates space for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to celebrate the freedom to be who they are. It allows an opportunity for this community, along with allies, to recognize the achievement of liberties attained through activism and raises awareness for liberties that continue to be pursued in Canada and around the world.

To demonstrate the support of our 2SLGBTQ+ guests, Team YYC members, Crew, and allies alike we are excited celebrate Pride alongside all of you by highlighting engagement opportunities aimed to enhance awareness, education, and inclusion.

We would like to highlight two upcoming virtual events that support allyship of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals taking place next week:

Tuesday August 31st 4:00-5:00pm: Beyond the Rainbow: Meaningful Allyship in the Workplace presented by McLennan Ross LLP

Thursday September 2nd 12:00-1:00pm: #ProudPartners Panel Series Active Allyship

We invite you to join us in celebrating Pride through initiatives such as:

  • Acknowledging gender identity by adding pronouns to your email signature and practice pronoun use supported with this infographic
  • Identify your space as 2SLGBTQ+ safe by utilizing #YYCPride coasters and wearing #YYCPride pins (limited supplies)
  • Consider 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion training offered through organizations such as OUTReels or Pride at Work Canada

Through Pride week keep an eye out for the following at YYC:

  • A change in the CANADA letters to rainbow colors
  • Digital screen messaging across YYC promoting YYC as a safe space
  • Amplified messaging across our social media channels raising awareness of 2SLGBTQ+ support and initiatives

The Calgary Pride Festival offers many virtual and in-person opportunities to participate in with a full schedule listing located here.
