Calgary Expo comes to YYC

April 24 update: Two lucky winners are going to Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo! YYC held an Instagram contest where Expo fans could win tickets to the event. Two individuals were chosen for their cosplay costumes and post sharing who their hero was. The winners were @bunnybrah and @takodawin. Congratulations and have a great time at the Calgary Expo!

Get ready Jedis and Siths! This week, Stormtroopers will be taking over YYC with an onsite activation in DTB and ITB Arrivals.

On Thursday, April 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. keep your eyes open for a special group of volunteers. Nine Pre-Board Pals volunteers and their furry companions are dressing up in their favourite superhero costumes. Thirty volunteers, led by our very own Emily Lassaline, are also dressing up in superhero costumes and handing out Calgary Expo swag and postcards for free kids admissions.

"This year is definitely going to be a lot bigger than previous years," says Emily. "Most of the volunteers are people who've done this before and keep telling me they're excited to come back and do it again."

Emily began organizing the volunteer group two years ago, but has been involved in cosplay for the past 15 years (cosplay is the activity or practice of dressing up as a character from a work of fiction such as a comic book, video game, or television show).

"If people haven't gone to the Expo before I'd highly recommend it. It's such a large event for the community and one of the larger conventions across Canada. It's definitely an experience."

If you get a chance please say hi to Emily and our amazing Calgary Expo volunteers! The force is strong with this group.
