Construction Kick-off for the WestJet Check-in Project

Construction for the WestJet Check-in Project is anticipated to kick-off by the end of July through until June 2020. The rendering above shows what the new space will look like when work is complete. Most of the construction work will occur at Ticket Counter (TC) 7, 8, and 9 in the Domestic Terminal Building (DTB) Departures Hall with the new check-in space for WestJet located at TC 8 & 9 between Doors 1 and 3.

In addition, this project includes some construction work to occur on the Arrivals Level near the Jugo Juice location.

Construction work starting this summer includes the following:

(1) Temporary washroom closure behind arrivals level Jugo Juice starting July 25, 2019

  1. These washrooms will be closed during renovations and will reopen Q1 2020
  2. The closest alternative washrooms are at Arrivals Meeting Point A, near Door 1

(2) Demolition of the Escalators beside arrivals level Jugo Juice in August

  1. Guests and YYC crew will need to take alternative routes from arrivals to departures including the stairwells and elevators between Doors 2 and 3 or elevators between Doors 3 and 4

“We’re excited to begin work on these important upgrades to our domestic terminal, particularly for our partner, WestJet. This project, in conjunction with the final phase of the baggage system improvements, will improve the guest experience and it is a further step towards the North Star,” says Zuller Botero, Director, Infrastructure.

During this time, we anticipate construction noise and operational impacts as we work to deliver this project. We thank you for your patience as we make improvements to the terminal.

Stay tuned for updated on the project as construction ramps up through until mid-2020.
