Domestic terminal building and ACC hot water system repair

Summary: From August 13 to September 4, we’re shutting down domestic hot water and heating.

The hot water system in the Domestic Terminal building and the Airport Corporate Centre (ACC) will be under critical maintenance and repair. As a result, we will lose heat for the duration of the project. However, Food and Beverage tenants have their own independent hot water supply and will not receive any disruption to service.

For airport staff in the offices or break rooms in the Domestic Terminal, we recommend that you:

  • Wash your hands with cold water and soap for at least 20 seconds and/or use hand sanitizer.
  • Bring a kettle if you need hot water in office kitchens or break rooms.
  • Bring a sweater and warmer clothing, as the temperature may drop overnight.
  • Avoid using space heaters if possible, to prevent tripping electrical breakers that computers and other equipment is plugged into.

We’ve been informed by Alberta Health and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) that washing your hands with cold water and soap for at least 20 seconds is equally effective in eliminating microbes or viruses. The duration and technique of handwashing is key; not the water the temperature.

As an enhanced measure and an important component of our #FlyHealthyYYC program, hand sanitizing stations will be placed outside our high-use domestic public washrooms and hand washing with cold water recommendations will be communicated inside the washrooms and in-terminal.
