There’s a drone for that: West airfield pavement evaluation underway

Summary: We've revised the dates to Oct. 26 to Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

We’re sharing the airfield and skies with AERIUM Analytics and Tetra Tech to conduct specialized drone surveys on all west airfield pavement to help plan for its future maintenance. Completing these inspections by drone is three times quicker than manual inspections. Drone technology may replace walking inspections in the future and make us more agile and efficient.

The week-long program will have minimal impact to flights and guests; which we’ve planned and communicated with stakeholders. We’re following all the rules and regulations set by Transport Canada and NAV CANADA to operate the drone. And we’re working with a drone solution provider with industry leading experience in complex and controlled environments who is familiar with our layout and protocols.
