Updated terminal access policy

As of Jan. 18, only passengers with valid boarding passes and airport employees on-duty can enter the terminal. Exceptions:

  • A support person for a traveller with accessibility needs.
  • Someone accompanying a minor travelling alone.
  • Guests at the Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel.
  • Pre-approved accredited media.

All other exceptions must be pre-approved by YYC Security and Operations.

These steps are in place to reduce the number of people at the airport and help limit the spread of COVID-19. This new requirement is a change from our previous recommendation to guests and employees.

We’re sharing this update on our digital channels and with frontline workers to help assist and inform in the moment. Signage on departures and arrivals doors reflect this new message.

We appreciate everyone’s support to make sure this happens consistently as dedicated enforcement will not be available. For escalated staff or guest interactions, we encourage Team YYC to contact the Integrated Operations Centre at (403) 735-1300 option 5.

I am a sedan driver at the airport,; will I have access as I need to locate my passenger if it’s prescheduled pick up or for personal in this case using the washroom?

Hi Jamil, Thanks for your question. You are considered an employee on-duty and will be permitted to enter the terminal to find your guest or use the facilities/washroom.

Thank you so much for restricting who has access to the terminal.

I am concerned about out guests who need to access baggage services to report damaged baggage, collect mishandled baggage or claim baggage in the customs hall. How will this work?

Hi David, thank you for your question. The guest would have documentation to coincide with their need to enter the terminal and pick-up their bags. They will be permitted to collect their belongings (similar to lost and found).

I need to pick up a pass from the pass office, who do I contact to make an appointment to pick up my pass?
